How Does Virtual Personal Training Work?

Getting started with a virtual personal trainer is a quick & easy process. After a thorough phone consultation, we match you with a trainer on our team who best suits your needs.

Your trainer will call you through your predetermined video app (FaceTime, Skype, etc.) during the time of your appointment. They will coach you through the workout from afar, just as though they are in your living room.

You will be able to see your trainer’s full body as they demonstrate various exercises, customized for your needs. Appointments are either 30 or 45 mins in length, please scroll below for more info on our packages.

Sessions can take place wherever you are! In your home, on vacation, in your hotel room or gym, even outside. The options and level of convenience are endless!

Today’s virtual session was great. Using FaceTime on my iPad I was able to put Kristi on my big screen and my air pods throughout the workout. What Do I Need for Virtual Personal Training?

Device: a smartphone, tablet or computer is all you need to get started.

Video App: your trainer will connect with you to make sure you have a compatible app before your first session, such as FaceTime or Zoom. Not tech savvy? No worries! We will make it easy for you 🙂

Equipment: this is optional. If you don’t have any equipment, your trainer can guide you through an effective bodyweight workout, incorporate household objects or make a suggestion for a few pieces that you can purchase, such as resistance bands and free weights. If you have a gym or equipment, your trainer can also structure the workout with what is available for use.

45 min sessions: great for anyone who is looking for a longer and highly effective training session. Rates begin at $75 per session.

Training packages: we offer blocks of 12 or 24 sessions as well as an initial training session before committing to a package, to ensure you are satisfied.

  • How is Virtual Personal Training different than Online Personal Training?

    With virtual training, you are working one-on-one with your trainer, as he/she guides you through the workout, specifically designed for you. Online training is a pre-set workout that may not be specific to your needs and require you to do it on your own time. With virtual training, you have an appointment and accountability, unlike online personal training.

  • I’ve never worked with a personal trainer before; what can I expect during the first session?

    Congratulations on taking a big step and hiring a trainer! During the first session, your trainer will take you through a warmup, workout, and cooldown with dynamic stretching. They will observe the way you negotiate certain exercises and movements, handle various loads of resistance, and identify areas of strengths and weaknesses. Your trainer will communicate in depth with you to make sure they are pushing your appropriately, effectively and most importantly, safely.

  • Is my fitness level high enough to work with a personal trainer?

    It is a misconception that you must be in top shape to hire a personal trainer. We welcome and work with clients of all fitness levels. Our trainers will customize your workouts to fit your needs and will appropriately progress your workouts as your fitness level increases.

  • I have some concerning aches and pains; can I still workout with a trainer?

    Yes, of course!  Many of our clients have contraindications to exercise and are still able to workout safely and effectively. We have a lot of experience working with clients with major aches, pains, injuries and degenerative diseases.

  • I don’t have any equipment, do I need to buy some?

    If you don’t have any equipment, your trainer will take your through body weight workouts. If you have any equipment he/she can incorporate the pieces into your workout. We can also make recommendations for a few key pieces that can really enhance your workout.

  • How do you hire your trainers?

    We are very particular about who we hire and carefully select our trainers out of many qualified candidates. Each trainer goes through three rounds of interviews: a phone interview, an in-person interview, and a thorough reference/background check. Once we hire a trainer, we work with each individual through our 6-month mentoring program where we sharpen and mold their skills. We also place a large emphasis on continuing education. We only hire the best personal trainers to join our team!

  • Are your trainers certified?

    Yes! Our personal trainers are certified through widely recognized personal training institutes and accreditations. Some of our trainers have degrees in exercise science and kinesiology. All of our trainers also pass a certified background check.
