Christi grew up traveling in a military family. As a teenager, Christi fell in love with running and strength training. Both activities allowed her to move her body in a way where she experienced her inner power. She started running competitively and taught herself to weight lift from a television show, using cans for weights and a footstool as a bench. You could say it was her first experience of in-home personal training. She brings this sense of discovery and creativity to her training sessions.
Running marathons and lifting weights became a way of expressing her power, pushing her limits, and handling stress. In these pursuits she found herself struggling with over-training and a series of injuries. Seeking balance, Christi discovered yoga and pilates. The mind-body connection in these practices helped her find a sense of balance with her mind, training, and relationship with food; it changed how she viewed movement and her body. Free from the cycle of injury, she was able to return to the intensity of other physical activities with increased joy. She started teaching yoga and pilates to help others receive the gifts of injury prevention and physical mobility.
Christi loves being outdoors; biking, running, water sports and backpacking. One of her favorite conversation topics is the Appalachian Trail. She is also always up for a geeky conversation on neurology and anatomy. Her initial degrees are in environmental and nuclear engineering from MIT so she is always happy to talk nerd.
Christi is an ACE Certified Personal Trainer and Group Fitness Instructor. She also holds specialty certifications as a Pre/Post Natal Fitness Instructor, Yoga (RYT-200), Basic Mat Pilates, Zumba, and Zumba Kids/Kids Jr. With her diverse fitness experience, she loves to incorporate each client’s favorite types of physical activities like cardio dancing, yoga, or strength training to create a personal workout that is effective, fun, and motivating.
Christi has worked with people of all ages (4-80 years old) with varying physical mobility, ability, and health conditions. She believes movement should be effective, enjoyable, and sustainable. When we pursue our physical goals, we learn a lot about ourselves and what we are truly capable of. The lessons we learn through moving our bodies transfer into strength, power, courage, and flexibility in other areas of our lives. Christi is excited to walk alongside you as you move towards your goals and become more of the person you are striving to be.
