Denny Pinch grew up in Hermitage, PA and graduated from Thiel College in Greenville, PA. He majored in Accounting and Economics and was a four-year varsity letterman in cross-country. He was one of the team’s tri-captains during his senior year. After graduation he spent the next twenty years working in accounting related jobs.
In 1994, Denny participated in the Jeff Galloway Marathon Training Program and completed his first marathon. A few years later he took over as the head coach for the Galloway program in Northern Virginia. He has coached marathon training programs for the MS Society, American Diabetes Association, and the American Stroke Association. He has completed 15 marathons with a PR of 3:42.
Denny realized that coaching marathon training programs and helping ordinary people improve their levels of fitness and increase their self-esteem by achieving their goal of finishing a marathon was way more fun than accounting. He decided to get a certification as a personal trainer and eventually made a career change to full-time employment in the fitness industry.
His passion for the fitness industry led him to acquire advanced certifications as a Corrective Exercise Specialist, Senior Fitness Specialist, Golf Fitness Specialist, and Running Fitness Specialist. He has published two articles about golf fitness in the Virginia Golfer Magazine and is currently attempting to write a book about pickleball injury prevention through corrective exercise. He served as the Assistant Fitness Director at the Fitness Center of the Army Navy Country Club from March, 2003 until his retirement in Feb., 2024.
Denny has also completed Parkinson’s Disease Awareness Training for Fitness Professionals, through the American Parkinson Disease Association. This allows Denny to safely and effectively work with those who exhibit all forms of Parkinson’s disease, from the initial stage to more progressed stages.
Although Denny is enjoying retirement, he does miss working with people in a one-on-one setting to help them improve their level of fitness and quality of life. He will work on a part-time basis as an in-home personal trainer in Arlington, VA.
He specializes in working with seniors and utilizing corrective exercise techniques helping people eliminate or reduce aches and pains in knees, hips, lower back, and shoulders. He has also been known by teaching golf fitness exercises to help golfers win more money from their friends.
