5 Successful Habits of
Fitness Professionals: Tayler Nick
Have you ever wondered what type of habits fitness professionals live by? What do they eat? What type workouts do they do? Do they practice what they preach?
Believe or not, these are common questions we get asked all the time. To shed some light on what habits we subscribe to for success in our lives, this week we are addressing some of those common questions.
Last week, we profiled Jodi, and this week we are continuing with our Successful Habits of Fitness Professionals series with Tayler, who is a Certified Personal Trainer, Group Fitness Instructor, Pre/Post Natal Trainer AND a Crossfit Level 1 Trainer! Follow along as Tayler shares her top 5 strategies and habits for success when it comes to health and fitness!
#1: Being Positive
Positivity is key! I cannot tell you how important this is! If you have positive people & energy around you, it will make a huge difference in your life. Your environment affects you more than you think. Personally, I know that if I take the time to look at the good in every day, my day is automatically better. I try really hard to have a great outlook on things. If you always think the worst, 9 out of 10 times the situation is going to be worse than it would be if you were thinking about it differently. If you think about the positive, it will help. 🙂
#2: Making My Schedule and Healthy Eating, Consistent
The more consistent I am with my workouts and my healthy eating, the more I see the results that I am looking for. I plan my workouts to fit into my day. It truly helps. When I have ‘Workout from 6:30a-7:30am’ written down in my planner or on my work calendar, I find that I hold myself more accountable. Additionally, I have to make sure that I plan out my meals for the week. I don’t necessarily ‘prep’ all of my food before the week starts, but I make sure that I have a plan and the food necessary to get through each day. The days that I don’t have a plan, usually end up with me making food choices that I shouldn’t have.
#3: Being Realistic
I personally am not a runner. Well, I do run but I don’t love it and have never run more than 4 miles at once. With that being said, I am not going to tell myself that I am going to run 10 miles in my free time on a Saturday in the next month. That is just setting myself up for failure and frustration. To be successful I make sure that the goals I am setting are going to be realistic for me. Then I go for it and work hard to get there. Sometimes I have big goals that are going to take a little while to reach. To help stay motivated, I set up little achievements that I know I will be able to make along the way.
#4: Switching Things Up
Switching up my fitness routine is key to helping me stay motivated and successful! Have fun with your training and trying new things, if possible. I personally love to research different exercises and programs and try them every once in a while myself. This helps add a little ‘spice’ to my every day training. Along with switching up my training, I also try to switch up the healthy meals that I make! I LOVE trying new recipes and think that is key to not getting bored with the same meals. I try to make one new meal every week, if time allows.
#5: H2O
Drinking the recommended amount of water that I am supposed to drink every day is something that took me a while to get used to. However, It’s a habit that I now love. I feel more refreshed, energized, and I find that it keeps me from snacking on unnecessary food throughout the day. To help accomplish this, I always make sure that I have a reusable water bottle I can use throughout the day.
